On January 31, 2020, the 2019 YALI Mandela Washington fellows brought their support to the Internally displaced persons of the Centre-Sud Region. They also paid a courtesy call to the Regional Director and the Provincial Director of the Zoundweogo district in Burkina Faso, who expressed their gratitude to those leaders. The region hosts more than 2,500 people from various conflict zones even though it is not an official center for refugees. Through this activity, the fellows responded to the invitation of ambassador Andrew Young by helping out during these difficult times in Burkina Faso. It is appreciated that the efforts of the National Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CONASUR) are supplemented by those of the private actions of engaged citizens.
