On October 5, 2016, the U. S. Embassy in Ouagadougou organized an information session at the City Hall in Pô about the Young African Leadership Initiative’s Mandela Washington Fellowship. The period to apply for the 2017 Fellowship program is September 21 – October 26, 2016. This program is an initiative of President Obama to offer promising young African leaders between the ages of 25 and 35 an opportunity for training and mentorship at American universities. The Mandela Washington Fellowship provides training and development in the areas of business and entrepreneurship, civic leadership, and public administration. It is a key US government program for developing and promoting leadership skills among young professionals across the African continent. Additional information sessions will be offered in Ouahigouya and Ouagadougou.
