Visa Waiver Program

  1. Visa Waiver Program

Interview Waiver Program (IWP)

Some applicants do not need to schedule an appointment and go through the interview at the Embassy in order to obtain their visas. Applicants whose previous tourist, student, or exchange visitor visa was issued within the last 12 months may submit their documents and pay the application fee on Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. without scheduling an appointment. If you do not meet all the criteria listed below, then you will be directed to make an appointment.

NOTE: The IWP program was recently limited from including all applicants whose visas were issued within the last 48 months to including only applicants whose visas were issued within the last 12 months. If your visa expired more than 12 months ago, you will need to schedule an appointment. Applicants for student visas and exchange visitor visas may be eligible for an expedited appointment.

NOTE: Applicants submitting documents through the IWP process may pick up their passports at 3:00 p.m. on the Tuesday following submission. If there is an urgent need to travel to the United States, please follow the regular instructions to make an appointment.
