U.S. Embassy Strengthen Journalists capacities in Investigation and Fact Checking

The Public Affairs section at the U.S. Embassy in Burkina Faso organized workshops on “Investigative Journalism and Fact Checking” in Bobo-Dioulasso and Ouagadougou led by France-based media expert George Kazolias.

The first two-day workshop was held in Bobo-Dioulasso from May 15-16. Upon his return to Ouagadougou, Mr. Kazolias exchanged with communications students at Aube Nouvelle University. He then led a two-day workshop with Ouagadougou journalists from May 18 to 19.

The workshops aimed at deepening the investigative capacities of Burkinabe journalists and improving their ability to use all the tools available to them, notably the internet.

The workshops are part of the United States’ effort to support transparency and freedom of the press in Burkina Faso.

Participants said that they had learned a lot and had been enlightened in all areas concerning investigative journalism.
