U.S. Embassy Ouagadougou in partnership with ARS Paris sent two American dancers (Nicola Ayoub and Asha Thomas) to participate in the first annual “In-Out Dance Festival” in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso February 3 – 9, 2014. Through the power of dance, Nicola and Asha reinforced cultural bonds that exist between the American people and the people of Burkina. They performed an extract from « Comme la Poussière, je m’élèverai », a new duet they choreographed in commemoration of Black History Month.
This grassroots festival was free to the public and featured presentations both indoors and outside, providing even small children opportunities to dance and interact with the professionals.
