The United States Embassy announces a $1 million project to strengthen the legislative branch as a way to promote a closer relationship between legislators and citizens.  The project aims to build capacity of members of parliament and their staff on drafting bills and better represent the citizenry.  The project will work with civil society to create a relationship between citizens and their representatives in the Assembly. It will also have a media component to enable journalists to follow the proceedings within the National Assembly and make reports to inform the public and allow it to monitor more closely the work of the Assembly.
