The U.S. Embassy informs U.S. citizens that the Burkina Faso military continues clearing the Naaba Koom Presidential Security Regiment (RSP) camp in the Ouaga 2000 neighborhood, and explosions may be heard. These explosions are a result of regular military units destroying munitions that did not detonate during the September 29 assault on the camp. In addition, the U.S. Embassy informs U.S. citizens that the nationwide curfew hours have been adjusted to 1:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.
Embassy staff has been instructed to follow the curfew and respect military checkpoints. Embassy staff has also been advised to avoid all locations south of Avenue Pascal Zagre (the east-west road between Hotel Laico and the Embassy), the Place de la Nation, military camps, and any other areas with concentrations of military.
U.S. citizens are urged to remain vigilant and to utilize appropriate personal security practices. The U.S. Embassy urges U.S. citizens to avoid large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
