The U.S. Embassy informs U.S. citizens that the political party Congrès pour la Démocratie et le Progrès (CDP) has called on its members to respond to the Constitutional Council’s finding of ineligibility of some of its legislative candidates with acts of civil disobedience.
The U.S. Embassy encourages U.S. citizens to avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place and exercise caution when in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations. Please remember, even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.
