We condemn all acts of terror and extend our condolences to the victims of the March 2 attack in Ouagadougou. The perpetrators only seek to undermine stability in the region, and do not care about, or contribute to, the well-being of men, women, and children who are the innocent casualties of these barbarous attacks by armed thugs.
That is why our partnership with Burkina Faso is essential: to help provide security, to promote economic development that creates jobs and opportunities for education and training for Africa’s growing population, and to strengthen legitimate government institutions that are transparent and responsive to the needs of the citizens they serve. Our continued engagement will underscore these principles and our deep and abiding commitment to African democracy, security, development, and prosperity.
