Nonimmigrant Visa Fee Increase
Effective June 17, 2023, there will be an increase to certain nonimmigrant visa (NIV) processing fees.
- The fee for visitor visas for business or tourism (B1/B2s), and other non-petition-based NIVs, such as student and exchange visitor visas (F, M and J categories), will increase from $160 to $185.
- The fee for certain petition-based NIVs for temporary workers (H, L, O, P, Q, and R categories) will increase from $190 to $205.
- The fee for treaty trader, treaty investor, and treaty applicants in a specialty occupation (E category) will increase from $205 to $315.
If you have already paid the lower fee, your payment is valid for 365 days from the date a receipt was issued for your payment. You must schedule an interview appointment or submit an interview waiver application within 365 days of your payment. You will not have to pay a fee difference.

Important information for visa applicants:
On October 26, 2021, U.S. Embassy Ouagadougou will resume full visa operations. Please note the details below:
- Routine non-immigrant visa services will resume Tuesday, October 26. Online appointments are open for all types of non-immigrant visa types. Applicants can now schedule a visa interview by following the instructions on our website: www.ustraveldocs.com/bf.
- Please note that scheduling capacity will be limited. As a result, applicants may encounter significant wait times for visa interview appointments. Visa applicants who previously paid the visa application processing fee but were unable to schedule a visa appointment because of the suspension of routine consular operations may schedule and attend a visa appointment with no additional payments. For processing fees paid between March 20, 2020, and October 25, 2021, the U.S. Mission extends the validity of your payment (known as the MRV fee) until September 30, 2023. Fees paid on or after October 26, 2021, are valid for one year from their date of purchase. Previously paid MRV fees may be used to schedule an interview appointment in the country where the fee was originally paid.
- For all issues related to scheduling a non-immigrant visa appointment with your current and valid MRV receipt please write to support-burkinafaso@ustraveldocs.com; do not contact the Embassy.
- If you are having issues printing the payment slip to take to UBA bank please click here for guidance.
- Important Note for Students: Starting October 26, 2021, all students must schedule their visa appointment. We will close the write-in scheduling program on October 25, 2021
- If you are applying for an official/diplomatic visa type (A, G), please send an email to OuagaNIV@state.gov to schedule a day and time for drop off. Official visa applicants must have the following: valid passport, travel orders, diplomatic note signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or their employer, the confirmation page of the DS-160 and a U.S. passport-style photograph.
