
To commemorate African American History Month, The U.S. Embassy in Ouagadougou organized on February 18, 2015 the Martin Luther King Talent Show. Six groups of students coming from different schools and universities of Ouagadougou and Ziniaré performed through sketches depicting Rosa Parks or Martin Luther King Jr. fights for freedom. About 180 persons attended the show. Ambassador Tulinabo Mushingi gave a speech highlighting two important aspects of the civil rights movement which are peaceful gathering and the importance of working within the system in order to strengthen its institutions. The program ended with participants receiving gratuities and certificates from Ambassador.
