The Public Diplomacy Section co-hosted the “American Film Week” with the Institut Francais from June 26-30, 2014 which feature a total of 9 American movie titles in English with French subtitles. This outreach program reached roughly 1,000 Burkinabe. The PD Section and the French Institute organized the same activity last year, and in light of success encountered in last year’s edition, they decided to do a second edition. The titles (provided by African Regional Services or ARS Paris) demonstrated the variation of American film from black and white to musicals to science-fiction and reached a diverse cross-section of Burkinabe. The Deputy Chief of Mission gave welcome remarks to launch the film week, followed by a short cocktail attended by key film contacts
