Health Alert: U.S. Embassy Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso

Location:  Burkina Faso

Event: The Burkina Faso Ministry of Health confirmed 180 cases of COVID-19 in Burkina Faso.

Effective March 16, 2020 U.S. Embassy Ouagadougouhas suspended routine consular services.  For emergency American Citizens Services, including emergency passports, please visit our website for additional information.  For after hours emergencies, please call (226) 25 49 53 00.

State local government actions: 

The government has implemented a two-week quarantine in all cities where there have been confirmed cases of COVID-19.  At this time, the following cities have been identified: Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, Boromo, Banfora, Houndé, Dedougou, Manga and Zorgho.  Transportation to or from these areas, and public services including schools and government offices areclosed.  Major public/outdoor markets have been closed in Ouagadougou.

  • Call the Burkina Faso hotline at (226) 52-19-53-94 or (226) 70-95-93-27, or dial 35 35, if you feel ill and suspect you might have COVID-19.
