Location:  Burkina Faso

Event: The Burkina Faso Ministry of Health confirmed 114 cases of COVID-19 in Burkina Faso.

On March 14, the Department of State authorized the departure from any diplomatic or consular post in the world of US personnel and family members who have been medically determined to be at higher risk of a poor outcome if exposed to COVID-19.  Embassy Ouagadougou arranged a repatriation flight to the United States, departing Ouagadougou tonight, en route to Washington D.C. Dulles Airport.  At this time, we are not able to include additional passengers on the flight.  Only persons who received email confirmations will be allowed boarding.

Effective March 16, 2020 U.S. Embassy Ouagadougou has suspended routine consular services.  For emergency American Citizens Services, including emergency passports, please visit our website for additional information.

Actions to Take:

  • Call the Burkina Faso hotline at (226) 52-19-53-94 or (226) 70-95-93-27, or dial 35 35, if you feel ill and suspect you might have COVID-19.
  • Consult the CDC website for the most up-to-date information.
