Health Alert: U.S. Embassy Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
Location: Ouagadougou
Event: On March 9, 2020, the Burkina Faso Ministry of Health announced two confirmed cases of Burkinabe nationals with COVID-19. The patients are being treated at a local health facility in Ouagadougou. Burkinabe health authorities noted that based on the contacts of these two imported cases, a third Burkinabe national is quarantined.
While Burkina Faso is not designated as a location where community transmission of COVID-19 has occurred, everyone has a role to play in staying healthy.
Actions to Take:
- Stay home when sick.
- Cover coughs and sneezes.
- Frequently wash hands with soap and water.
- Clean frequently touched surfaces.
- Consult the CDC website for the most up-to-date information.
