Event: Announcement of Return to Normal Airport Operations – Entry and Exit Requirements
The Government of Burkina Faso reopened the Ouagadougou and Bobo airports for normal commercial operations on August 1st, 2020. All land borders remain closed.
Travelers arriving in Burkina Faso – Travelers coming to Burkina Faso will be required to present a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within five (5) days of arrival. Currently, rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) and antibody tests are not accepted. To date, health officials have accepted certificates in either French or English. A temperature check will be performed upon arrival; passengers with a temperature over 38C will be subject to further evaluation by host nation medical personnel.
Passengers who arrive without the required test have the option of being tested (RDT test) by host government personnel at the airport at a cost of 90,000 CFA. Passengers who test positive at the airport will be required to quarantine in a hotel at the traveler’s expense pending the result of a PCR test. Additional follow-up tests may be required, again at traveler’s expense.
Travelers departing Burkina Faso – travelers departing Burkina Faso, regardless of destination, will be required to present a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within five (5) days of departure. Results will be verified prior to entering the airport.
Masks are required to be worn upon arrival at the airport under all circumstances.
