On Thursday, November 09, 2017 a team from the American Embassy held an information session at hotel Dioulassoba in Bobo Dioulasso, on the Fulbright and Humphrey programs as part of the Banfora-Diebougou-Bobo Road Show. More than 125 people attended the information session. The audience was mainly university students and teachers, researchers, professionals, members of Rotary, Lions and Leo Clubs. The Cultural Affairs Assistant and the Alumni Program Support Specialist explained what the programs are, how to apply, and the selection process. They also answered various questions on how to complete a good application, meet eligibility requirements, how to study in the U.S., and the importance of following the correct visa process.
One teacher from University of Ouagadougou who was in Bobo and who participated in the session, captured the sentiment of attendees well when he thanked the Embassy for all the educational exchange opportunities we are providing to Burkinabe audiences. He encouraged his fellow participants to work on their English and apply. After the session we met with Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) alumni, eager to collaborate in promoting such exchange programs further. The Fulbright and Humphrey programs will be launched on December 1, 2017.
