Emergency Message for U.S. Citizens Avoid Downtown Ouagadougou – August 14, 2017

The U.S. Embassy urges U.S. citizens to avoid downtown Ouagadougou and shelter in place.  The Embassy received reports late Sunday night of gunfire in downtown Ouagadougou.  The Government of Burkina Faso reports that 17 were killed and 8 wounded during an attack at the Istanbul restaurant on Avenue Kwame Nkrumah.  We urge U.S. citizens in Ouagadougou to contact family and friends and let them know you are safe.
