On the occasion of the International Education Week (IEW), Embassy Ouagadougou hosted an education fair on November 18, 2016,with many activities to inform parents and students about their educational choices and support our economic and social development goal.
We hosted the Virtual College fair where participants visited tables lined with university advertisement and catalogs. American volunteers spoke on panels discussing graduate schools, undergraduate experiences and another on virtual or online studies. Dr Widders from Michigan State University was present to talk about the Master Card Foundation Scholarship. The EducationUSA materials were made available to the public in an exposition area as well as computers for online searching.
The exhibition attracted hundreds of visitors from high school students, to professionals and parents. The Charge d’affairs, the Public Affairs Officer and English Language Fellow played active roles throughout the day which was covered heavily by local media.
The CCC students volunteered by answering questions and helping with logistics.
