On September 4, 2014 Ambassador Tulinabo Mushingi, PAO Brenda Soya, and English Program Specialist Lynn Ouedraogo hosted a luncheon in Ouagadougou to honor eight Burkinabe English language teachers who completed 10-week on-line courses during the year with the University of Oregon through the State Department E-Teacher Scholarship Program.  Ambassador Mushingi presented each scholar with a course completion certificate from the University of Oregon.

This luncheon with the Ambassador was a significant action to highlight the importance of the E-Teacher Scholarship Program and demonstrate the embassy’s support for improved English language teaching practice and the integration and development of technology in the service of education.  Not only did the participants learn new and exciting methods and trends in English teaching but the online format of their courses also helped them develop indispensable skills for exploiting Internet and computer technology for teaching.  The E-Teacher Scholarship Program is a great capacity building tool not only for improving English language instruction in Burkina Faso but also for developing IT skills among teaching professionals and their students.
