Driving in Burkina Faso
The United States Embassy advises American citizens wishing to travel to Burkina Faso and intending to drive a vehicle, to get an international driving license before the trip.
According to Burkina Faso law “Any holder of a valid international driving license issued in a country that is a signatory of the Geneva Convention dated September 19, 1949 on road traffic or the Vienna Convention dated November 08, 1968 on road traffic, may drive in Burkina Faso, without any formality, the vehicles of the categories covered by this license”.
