A delegation from the embassy visited Tenkodogo as part of the Dango road show. After a courtesy visit to the Governor of the Central-East Region, the Ambassador visited the locality of Kougsabla where he was able to hear first-hand the positive economic and health impact the Ambassador’s Special’s Self Help program has had in financing a water pump. The delegation engaged local inhabitants in a discussion on civic engagement and the important role each person can play in improving one’s community. The delegation also visited a children’s center for the deaf in Garango where the Ambassador engaged faculty and students in American Sign Language and stressed the importance of education as a key factor in civic engagement. The Ambassador’s meeting with the Chief of Garango as well as participation in an open tea debate and soccer match with local youth, emphasized how communication, leadership and collaboration create a winning environment for success.
