Ambassador Mushingi Calls Burkinabe to go out and vote

As part of the U.S. Embassy’s support for Burkina Faso’s historic elections, Ambassador Tulinabo Mushingi gave three radio interviews on Election Day. He congratulated the Burkinabe people for their peaceful conduct, as well as all the volunteer observers for their commitment to electoral transparency. He then called all those registered to go out and vote, and asked political leaders and citizens to accept the results and, if desired, to pursue the appropriate constitutionally correct appeal process. The Ambassador added that the United States has provided more than $4.3 million in funding and expertise to assist Burkina Faso with these elections. This money has supported youth and women’s empowerment in the political process, electoral security, media sensitization and training, the promotion of peace and tolerance, and the purchase of furniture and equipment to support the CENI.
