Ambassador Mushingi travelled to Park W in the eastern region of Burkina Faso to celebrate World Wildlife Day. The purpose of the trip is to tour the W Park and meet with Burkinabe officials who are leading the fight to preserve precious animal species like the lion, elephant, pangolin and others, so that together “we can protect the environment, promote economic development, and keep criminal organizations out of your communities” said Ambassador Mushingi, adding that the United States is a destination point for trafficked wildlife and wildlife products like exotic pets, elephant ivory and rhino horn. In this sense, we are part of the problem. But we are also determined to be part of the solution”.
