Location: Stade du 04 Août in Ouagadougou

Event:  Burkina Faso Security Forces are planning to conduct a training exercise on Tuesday, October 16 at the Stade du 04 Août in Ouagadougou.  The exercise will be a simulated terrorist attack against the soccer stadium in the Gounghin district of Ouagadougou. Between 8 AM and 1 PM, individuals in the area may hear loud explosions, simulated gunfire, and observe smoke. The Embassy encourages all American citizens to avoid the area while the training exercise is being conducted.

• Avoid areas surrounding the Stade du 04 Août in Ouagadougou.
• Monitor local media for updates.
• Be aware of your surroundings.
• Stay alert in locations frequented by tourists/Westerners.
• Review your personal security plans.
